King &
Story
A crossroads of place, perspective, and purpose
King & Story is more than an intersection from my past; it's a personal metaphor for where lived experience meets the stories we choose to tell. It's where place becomes voice and perspective becomes purpose.
As a director and creative director, this philosophy has guided my work across film, brand storytelling, and every project rooted in meaning and made to move.
My approach as a creative director thrives on limitless curiosity and geographic wandering. Having lived and worked across New York, London, and Cape Town, I've learned that the most effective creative solutions—and the best stories—emerge from understanding human nature across cultures, not just markets. Through this lens, I craft narratives that cut across geography and foster global connection.
I began my journey as a film editor, working alongside some of our greatest filmmakers and musicians. This foundational experience led to a Grammy Award for a feature documentary and a New York Festivals Award for my work on Beyoncé's "SWEET DREAMS." While I cherished shaping narratives in the edit suite, I discovered a deeper drive to lead creative endeavors from conception to completion. This evolution into directing and creative leadership took me from writing and producing to uncovering narratives that span from the oceans of South Africa to the jungles of Cambodia. My short films have screened at numerous festivals and been exhibited at prestigious venues like the Balenciaga Museum in Spain and The Wallace Collection in London.
As a director, I thrive on creative challenges, particularly those demanding fearless, subversive approaches. My debut feature film, Sons of the Sea, won 'Best South African Film' at the 2021 Durban International Film Festival. My latest documentary was named one of twenty "hot properties" at 2024 Cannes MIPCOM and nominated for Best Documentary at the Venice TV Awards.
My creative direction portfolio includes extensive commercial work for leading brands like Apple, Bayer, Patrón, Maersk, and Adidas, alongside a diverse slate of feature films: Three Years Gone (premiering 2026), Original Sin: My Son the Killer (2024 - Showmax, Disney +, Nominated Best Feature Documentary Venice TV Awards), Sons of the Sea, and the feature documentary Landmines.
When I'm not crafting stories or leading creative vision, I'm testing the boundaries of AI and raising two 21st-century storytellers who are obsessed with all things dino.
